Trainee Accountant joins team.
We are pleased to introduce Dan Goodall, our new Trainee Accountant. Dan has fast become an integral part of the accounts team in the last few months that he has been with us at Shaw Austin Chartered Accountants.
As an apprentice, Dan is learning from his colleagues at the office in Chester. He will also attend college to study towards the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification (AAT). The course develops the skills that are required to support clients properly with all of their accounting needs.
Dan has made a flying start and has already achieved his QuickBooks Online Advanced ProAdvisor Status. This is a great achievement which adds to the skill that the rest of the team already have. To be able to use online accounting software well, including QuickBooks, Xero and Freeagent, is a really important skill to have.
With Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD ITSA) fast approaching – which will require sole traders and landlords to fundamentally change how they maintain their accounts records – then tackling accounting software from the offset is so important.
Dan wrote a few words of his experience so far:
‘I started at Shaw Austin in May 2022. I expected a lot of watching and shadowing of others when I first started. Since the first day, I have been involved in various day-to-day tasks with book keeping and VAT work. Before I knew it, with colleagues’ help, I was working through purchase and sales invoices on software like Dext and Quickbooks.
Learning these key accountancy software saves tons of time and makes everything straightforward to understand. I have participated in webinars to continue to learn and become more confident with the software.
I look forward to working towards my AAT qualifications. This will allow me to progress forward and learn more advanced accountancy skills and develop my knowledge in wider areas of the work.’
