Guest Speaker on the evening was Dr Gyles Brandreth who, famous for his writing and broadcasting, is also Chancellor of the University of Chester.

This was the 15th year of the awards which were introduced in 2006 to recognise outstanding achievements by enterprise in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington.

It was said of Aiden in his nomination that ‘he has become a confident and capable apprentice who has become a first port of call for some clients with queries. Clients are recognising Aiden as a trusted advisor which shows how much he has achieved personally in a relatively short space of time.’

Gyles Brandreth spoke highly about the quality of the entrants and that the decision to shortlist and then to vote on a winner by the judges was challenging this year.

During the evening it was so interesting to hear about the nominees, and winners for the other categories, in this years awards.

It was during National Apprenticeship Week 2022 we were pleased to hear that Aiden was on the shortlist for this prestigious award.

Each nominee recorded a short video that was played at the start of their award category. Nominee videos gave them the opportunity to speak about themselves.

Aiden said:

I am really excited to be put forward for this award. It means a lot that my employer and colleagues can see I am working hard and doing really well in work.

At Shaw Austin we are proud of our training scheme that has started many new accounting apprentices off in their careers. Our apprentices normally train towards their AAT accounting qualification. This gives them a solid, rounded, experience within the profession to support our clients.

Since receiving his award:

The High Sheriff of Cheshire, Robert Mee DL, sent Aiden a personal message:

Congratulations Aiden, keep working hard and good luck in your career.

Aiden said:
